# Amitabh Bachchan pays tearful tribute to Nana Patekar on KBC 18 2026-10-08T19:03:12+00:00 | Entertainment | Indian Opinion Desk Corroboration: 2 independent outlets Amitabh Bachchan on Thursday, 8 October gave an emotional tribute on the set of ‘Kaun Banega Crorepati 18’ to actor Nana Patekar, who died that morning. Bachchan, wearing a white shawl, said: ‘His outspokenness, his simplicity and his courage to speak the truth set him apart.’ He recalled Patekar appearing as a ‘Karmaveer’ guest on a special KBC episode and donating his winnings to Maharashtra farmers hit by drought. Bachchan folded his hands and said: ‘Nana, my personal namaskar to you, and a salute to the art you lived with complete honesty and dedicated to all of us.’ A photo of Patekar and his life-span (1951-2026) appeared on the stage screen. The show’s family offered its tribute. TV9 Hindi reported the death on Friday, 9 October morning, placing the time at 00:03 IST. ## Indian Opinion Analysis The two outlets report the same event in near-identical wire copy. Aaj Tak publishes first, at 22:53 IST on 8 October, and states Nana Patekar died on Thursday morning. TV9 Hindi publishes two hours later, at 00:03 IST on 9 October, and states the actor died on Friday morning. The date disagreement is the only textual difference between the stories. No editorial slant, omission or emphasis distinguishes the framings: both lead with Amitabh Bachchan's tribute on KBC, quote the same lines from his on-air address, and mention the same earlier KBC appearance and the actor's donation to Maharashtra drought-hit farmers. The balanced reading supports taking the later source's death date, since it corrected the day across midnight, but neither outlet adds an official confirmation to settle it. The coverage ends on the on-screen memorial that closed the episode. ## Coverage Coverage: 2 sources, 2 neutral - aajtak.in (neutral report) Straight wire copy, date aligned with publication time - tv9hindi.com (neutral report) Identical wire copy, corrects death day across midnight This brief was synthesised by AI from the 2 sources linked above, so one read covers every framing they carry.
