Anupam Kher and Anil Kapoor marked 40 years of the 1986 blockbuster Karma on August 8. Anupam Kher, who played villain Doctor Dang, said the film made him a commercial star after Saaransh established him as an actor. He called working with the late Dilip Kumar the greatest gift of the film. Anil Kapoor, who played a prisoner recruited for a mission, described the experience as intimidating and inspiring. Directed by Subhash Ghai, Karma featured a star studded cast including Naseeruddin Shah, Jackie Shroff, and Sridevi. Its soundtrack by Laxmikant Pyarelal remains popular.
