Film producer Archana Kalpathi Aghoram has been appointed to the reconstituted state-level committee of Tamil Nadu's Hindu religious and charitable endowments (HR&CE) department. The seven-member panel, with a two-year term from July 24, will appoint non-hereditary trustees to temples earning over Rs 10 lakh annually. Archana, who produced Vijay-starrers The GOAT and Bigil, joins a committee chaired by adheenam head Thavathiru Sivagnana Balaya Swamikal and retired judge K Ramanathan as deputy chairman. The Hindustan Times reports that the appointment sparked debate online, with some questioning her qualifications and others defending her background. This is the latest in a series of film industry appointments by the Vijay-led government, including producer K Venkata Narayanan as special representative in Delhi and cinematographer Manoj Paramahamsa as chairman of the MGR film institute.
