# Manipur gymnast Ariha Pangambam wins India’s first Asian aerobic gold

Manipur's Ariha Pangambam, 22, became the first Indian to win a gold medal in the senior women's individual event at the Asian Aerobic Gymnastics Championships. The event was held in the Philippines from August 4 to 7, 2026. Ariha scored 19.100 points, with 8.650 in artistry, 7.600 in execution and 2.850 in difficulty. Previously, Ariha had won gold at the National Games in 2023 and 2025 and narrowly missed an Asian medal in 2022 and 2024, finishing fourth both times. She trains under coach Yumnam Ranjan Singh. Gymnastics Federation of India president Sudhir Mittal praised her achievement. Ariha is also pursuing a post-graduate certificate in sports leadership at AISTS India.
