Arunachal Pradesh chief minister Pema Khandu on Saturday dismissed reports of Chinese military encroachment in the state, saying the Indian Army is effectively patrolling and safeguarding the territory. His remarks came a day after the Centre formally identified 27 locations in the state by their standard names on the official Survey of India map. The move counters China's repeated attempts to rename places in Arunachal Pradesh, which New Delhi has called "vain and preposterous". The list includes strategic spots near the Line of Actual Control, such as Long Ju, Thag La and Jairampur. China has issued three lists of standardised names for the region since 2017.
