Australia women’s vice-captain Ashleigh Gardner has broken her silence after estranged wife Monica Wright alleged Gardner had an affair with teammate Georgia Voll. In an Instagram statement on Thursday, Gardner thanked Cricket Australia for backing her continued leadership, called the separation a personal matter, and apologised for the pain caused. She said she will make no further public comment. Wright had demanded Gardner be stripped of the vice-captaincy and criticised CA for inaction. Cricket Australia, citing its Respect at Work policy, said it had put conflict-of-interest arrangements in place and deemed the issue private.
