Nasiman Zaman said ankle-deep water still stood inside the house. She told PTI that about 15 relatives are sheltering together at her sister-in-law's place. Her husband, a government employee, was in Guwahati when water rose chest-high on July 21. Zaman said drainage has narrowed due to road and bridge construction, and pumping is inadequate. She stressed that safety is the biggest blessing, but residents need assurance that such havoc will not recur.
