# Assam floods affect 1.6 lakh people, death toll reaches 95

Assam’s flood death toll has reached 95, with more than 1.6 lakh people affected across 14 districts, Times Now reports. Six deaths were recorded on Wednesday, while over 100 relief camps and distribution centres were serving 44,523 people. Sivasagar, Golaghat and Jorhat were among the worst-hit districts. Floodwaters submerged 16,951.76 hectares of cropland and damaged roads, bridges and embankments. The Assam Tribune reports Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma put the number of affected livestock at over 10 lakh and announced compensation for animal losses. The package includes Rs 37,500 per large milch animal, Rs 4,000 per small animal and Rs 100 per poultry bird, subject to limits. However, the latest ASDMA bulletin listed 35,025 affected domestic animals, with no explanation yet for the gap.
