# Assam’s Orunodoi 3.0 to give Rs 1,250 monthly to 37 lakh women

Assam chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma announced on July 27 that the state's flagship Orunodoi 3.0 scheme will start providing Rs 1,250 monthly financial assistance to over 37 lakh women from low-income families from August 1. The amount will be transferred directly to beneficiaries' bank accounts through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT), Livemint reports citing PTI. Women in four flood-affected districts will get Rs 2,500 this month. The scheme, started in 2020, targets widows, unmarried women above 45, transgenders, persons with disabilities, and women from households with annual income below Rs 2 lakh. Beneficiaries can now also access interest-free small loans up to Rs 15,000 against their annual entitlement, with repayments adjusted from future monthly assistance.
