# Assaulted Dombivli doctors refuse to return despite court orders

Two doctors at Shastri Nagar Municipal Hospital in Dombivli have refused to resume duty after allegedly being assaulted on July 6. The Kalyan-Dombivli Municipal Corporation has not accepted their resignations and has asked them to return, the Times of India reports. The doctors had told a patient’s family that a newborn needed shifting because the neonatal intensive care unit was full. The Bombay High Court granted bail to Shiv Sena corporator Ramesh Mhatre and other accused, while ordering them to stay outside Maharashtra until the chargesheet is filed. It directed a fast-track trial, police protection for victims and witnesses, and appointment of a special public prosecutor. The court also set deadlines for the chargesheet and framing of charges.
