# Astrobase unveils India’s first private 800kN rocket engine

Bengaluru space start-up Astrobase Space Technologies on Friday unveiled 'Everest', India's first privately built 800kN full-flow staged combustion (FFSC) rocket engine. The liquid oxygen-methane engine is designed for reusable medium-lift launch vehicles. The company plans to manufacture up to 50 engines annually, aiming for 100 tonnes of launch capacity in Phase 1 and over 1,000 tonnes later. The next milestone is a full-engine hot-fire test, followed by vehicle integration and an orbital launch. IN-SPACe is supporting the development through its Technology Adoption Fund, the Times of India reports.
