Audio guest books are gaining traction at Indian weddings, blending technology with nostalgia to preserve heartfelt messages.
Imagine listening to your friend’s excited cheers or your grandparents’ blessings recorded on your
wedding
day years or decades later. It sounds heartwarming, doesn’t it? These sound bytes from loved ones recorded at an audio phone booth on your big day will refresh your memories in a way no physical guest book would.

“Unlike written notes, which may feel formal or limited, an audio guest book captures the laughter and warmth of loved ones in real-time, preserving their voices,” says Neha Seth Arora, founder of a luxury event management company. Vikaas Gutgutia, MD & founder of events and wedding planning company, adds, “Once a niche concept, the audio guest book is steadily gaining popularity at Indian weddings. As technology meets nostalgia, wedding memories aren’t just seen – they can be heard and preserved for years.”

Turn the phone booth into a selfie station
The immersive experience for guests can also serve as a photo booth, so match the aesthetic with the overall theme. “Opt for a booth with a vintage aesthetic, featuring a classic phone booth structure adorned with floral arrangements that blend seamlessly with the event decor or theme. This will serve as a photo booth and selfie corner too. Alternatively, for a more intimate touch, opt to create a cosy living room-inspired set up – a corner with a vintage telephone on a coffee table, surrounded by elegant books, a plush single-seater chair and nostalgic decor reminiscent of the days when landlines and directories were a household staple,” says, Neelam Madnani, a wedding planner.
How the tech works
Nitisha Shetty, a wedding planner, who has introduced the audio booth concept at her events, says, “This is more than just a keepsake, it’s a living memory.” She shares how the feature works:
- As guests step into the booth, they hear a warm, pre-recorded message from the couple or read an instruction card
- After the introduction, they’ll be prompted to record their message
- Once they finish speaking, the message is automatically saved when they hang up
- The output is easy, portable and can be accessed for years to come

Choosing the right audio guest book setup
- When selecting an audio guest book, choose a style that matches your wedding aesthetic —whether it’s a vintage phone booth setup, a sleek modern digital recorder
- Prioritise high-quality audio to ensure voices are captured clearly and without background noise
- Create a cosy, inviting recording space, ideally in a quieter area of your venue, so guests feel comfortable speaking freely
- A written cue is important to encourage participation. Add fun prompt cards such as, “Share your favourite memory of us”, “share marriage advice”, “record a toast”
