Emraan Hashmi's Awarapan 2 has emerged as the clear winner in its box office clash with Sunny Deol's Batwara 1947, collecting Rs 81.75 crore net in India over its opening weekend, according to Sacnilk. The film earned Rs 26 crore on Sunday, day 3, after a 55% jump on Saturday to Rs 33.75 crore. Batwara 1947, meanwhile, managed only Rs 7.25 crore on Sunday, a 46% drop from Saturday, taking its three-day total to Rs 26.50 crore net. Made on a budget of Rs 45 crore, Awarapan 2 has already become a hit and is the eighth Bollywood success of 2026, Hindustan Times reports. Times of India notes it is the fastest Bollywood release of the year to achieve that status. Batwara 1947, directed by Anil Sharma, features Sunny Deol as a Muslim man protecting a Hindu woman during Partition and marks Preity Zinta's return after a decade. The real test for Awarapan 2 will be its Monday hold, as day 4 numbers will decide its fate for the rest of the week, Times of India says. Hindustan Times adds that Batwara 1947 needs strong weekday word of mouth to sustain its run.
