# Bangladesh again seeks Hasina extradition at envoy meet

Bangladesh on Monday reiterated its demand for the extradition of former prime minister Sheikh Hasina from India, this time during a meeting between Indian High Commissioner Dinesh Trivedi and Prime Minister Tarique Rahman in Dhaka. The meeting lasted about half an hour, with Rahman also raising the extradition of suspects in the murder of student leader Osman Hadi, who was killed in December 2025. Three suspects arrested in India are in judicial custody in West Bengal. The meeting came days after Bangladesh expressed outrage over Hasina addressing the press from New Delhi on August 5, calling her an 'absconding, convicted genocider'. India’s Ministry of External Affairs said it had no role in that event. Separately, Nepal's prime minister Balendra Shah ended his self-imposed ban on individual foreign envoy meetings by receiving Indian ambassador Naveen Srivastav.
