# Bank deposits rise to Rs 27.49 lakh crore: RBI data

As on July 31, 2026, total deposits of all scheduled banks in India stood at Rs 27.49 lakh crore, up 15.3% from a year ago, according to RBI data. Bank credit rose to Rs 22.59 lakh crore, a 19% increase. Demand deposits grew sharply to Rs 3.49 lakh crore. Borrowings from the RBI fell to Rs 604 crore from Rs 5,598 crore a fortnight earlier, indicating reduced reliance on central bank funds. The central bank released these numbers in its Scheduled Banks’ Statement of Position.
