# BCI reverses NALSAR 2026 enrolment ban amid CJI row

The Bar Council of India (BCI) within hours reversed its order barring all 2026 graduates of NALSAR University of Law from enrolling as advocates, a move sparked by a student campaign opposing Chief Justice of India Surya Kant as convocation chief guest. The BCI said new reports showed the “vast majority” of students were innocent. It has, however, asked NALSAR to submit within three days a report identifying those who organised the campaign, including any teachers or outsiders. The matter will be taken up again on August 19.
