A trainer aircraft veered off the runway at Baramati Airfield in Pune district on Sunday during a training exercise, with both occupants escaping unharmed. The Cessna C172, operated by the Academy of Carver Aviation, overshot the threshold by about 20 feet and came to rest in a grassy area, damaging its propeller and nose landing gear. The pilot and cadet were conducting rejected take-off drills. The DGCA has sent an air safety team to investigate. The incident is the latest in a series at Baramati this year. Swarajyamag reports it as the second mishap after the January crash that killed Ajit Pawar and four others. Rediff, however, counts it as the third, including a trainer crash landing in May.
