The distributor of Batwara 1947 has agreed to a 50-50 show-sharing arrangement with Awarapan 2, softening an earlier demand for all single-screen shows. Exhibitors, already squeezed, now face a new challenge from Sony, which has demanded a minimum of two shows daily for Spider-Man: Brand New Day in single screens, with higher requirements for larger cinemas. A trade source told Bollywood Hungama that Sony feels justified as the film collected around Rs 9 crore on Tuesday and is expected to perform strongly over the Independence Day weekend. An exhibitor from Nawalgarh, Rajasthan, summed up the dilemma: 'We always face this problem of doing batwara of shows while making sure none of the distributors is upset.'
