# Jay Shah team turns 40 barren acres into BCCI CoE

The BCCI's Centre of Excellence (CoE) in Bengaluru nears its second anniversary, built on 40 acres of former barren land through a war-footing effort led by then-secretary Jay Shah, now ICC chairman. Work began on 14 February 2022 after legal hurdles and land regularisation were cleared, BCCI secretary Devajit Saikia said. VVS Laxman, who moved from Hyderabad in 2021 to head the CoE, credited Shah's hands-on involvement in turning the vision into reality by November 2024. 'All leaders have vision, but it bears fruit only when translated into reality,' Laxman said.
