# BEd students urge Kuvempu University to speed exams for teacher job deadline 2026-10-28T02:11:36+00:00 | Governance | Indian Opinion Desk Corroboration: 1 independent outlet BEd students from colleges affiliated with Kuvempu University have appealed to Vice-Chancellor Sharath Ananthamurthy to conduct final semester examinations and declare results early, so they can apply for the government’s recruitment of 15,000 high school teachers. Around 600 students from affiliated colleges would miss the opportunity if exams are not held soon. A delegation met Prof. Ananthamurthy at the Jnana Sahyadri campus on Tuesday (27 October) and submitted a memorandum. They said the academic calendar was delayed due to late admissions, and requested the university to announce third-semester results and complete fourth-semester exams and results before 10 November. The recruitment application deadline is 16 November. Students from SJB BEd College in Sagar and Kumudvathi BEd College in Shikaripur, led by Arpitha, Soundarya, Punith, Ankitha, Shashank and Sneha, also submitted a memorandum to Primary and Secondary Education Minister Madhu Bangarappa. ## Indian Opinion Analysis The students’ appeal to the Vice-Chancellor and the Education Minister underscores a bureaucratic mismatch: the university’s delayed academic calendar clashes with the government’s fixed recruitment deadline of 16 November. The 600 candidates from affiliated colleges face exclusion from 15,000 teacher posts solely because their exam results may not arrive in time. The university has not yet responded publicly to the demand to finish fourth-semester exams by 10 November, leaving the students’ job prospects hanging on an administrative decision. ## Coverage - thehindu.com Leads with student appeal, omits university response This brief was synthesised by AI from the source linked above.
