West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee on Thursday condemned the violence in Maharashtra’s Nagpur and said India is known for its unity in diversity and that she stands by the country in times of crisis.
Before leaving for the UK, where she will deliver a speech at the Oxford University, Banerjee formed a taskforce to oversee the state’s governance in her absence. The task force comprises home Secretary Nandini Chakraborty, DGP Rajeev Kumar, Kolkata Commissioner of Police Manoj Verma, two senior officers and ministers Chandrima Bhattacharya, Firhad Hakim, Arup Biswas, Sujit Bose and Sashi Panja.
