Bescom and the GBA are now removing electrical poles, transformer centres, and other infrastructure blocking pedestrians. Launched by energy minister KJ George on August 1, the initiative saw a two-day intensive drive on Saturday. Bescom has surveyed 908 roads so far. As of August 7, it relocated 356 electric poles, 10 transformer centres, and 7 Ring Main Units. Officials also cleaned and secured 694 distribution transformer centre yards, 107 RMUs, and 110 spun poles. Bescom MD N Shivashankara personally supervised inspections in the BMAZ area.
