Sources said Rais Ahmed fainted while being caught. He was suspended under Rule 10(1)(a) of Karnataka Civil Services (CCA) Rules, 1957, pending a departmental inquiry. The corporation received a complaint that Rais Ahmed demanded and took money from the salon owner for a trade licence and health inspection. Rais Ahmed denied taking illegal money. The suspension order said the alleged conduct was serious dereliction of duty violating Karnataka Government Servants’ Conduct Rules.
