# Drones, SDRF teams search for IIT alumnus missing on Shivagange trek

The search for 31-year-old cybersecurity professional Advait Upadhyay, missing since Friday during a solo trek to Shivagange Hill near Bengaluru, entered a critical phase on Sunday. High-resolution drones and specialised metal detectors from the Bengaluru police commissionerate have been deployed, along with a 15-member State Disaster Response Force team, to scan steep drops and dense forest patches. Upadhyay, an IIT alumnus with a master’s in cybersecurity and scheduled to marry in January, was captured on CCTV beginning his climb at 7.30 am. His mobile phone was switched off soon after, and his fiancee, Prapti Chauhan, filed a missing person complaint. The News Minute reports that the last location of his phone was traced to an area off the usual trekking route. Heavy rain hampered operations on Saturday and Sunday.
