Sen. Bernie Sanders has called on Democratic leaders to ban super PACs from primary elections, labelling the current system 'corrupt'. In a letter shared on X, Sanders singled out the American Israel Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC) for spending over $30 million in Michigan's Democratic primary to defeat Dr Abdul El-Sayed. He said AIPAC plans to spend tens of millions more to support Republican Mike Rogers in the general election. Sanders noted that corporate super PACs have already spent a record $517 million this election cycle, exceeding the 2024 record.
