# UP father drowns pregnant daughter in honour killing, arrested

A 17-year-old girl was beaten to death with a wooden cattle peg by her father in UP's Bhadohi district after she intervened in a family scuffle over the sale of cow dung cakes, India Today reports. The accused, Rajesh Yadav, has been arrested. Separately, an 18-year-old woman, Khushi, was allegedly drowned by her father Lakhpat Singh Baghel in Agra's Chambal River because she was four months pregnant outside marriage. Baghel and a relative were arrested. Police say he feared social stigma and planned to stage it as a suicide. The body has not been recovered.
