# Bhagwat says freedom must be preserved through duty and sacrifice

RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat said India’s freedom, won through decades of sacrifice, must be preserved through public duty and used to build a prosperous, secure nation. Speaking after hoisting the Tricolour at the RSS headquarters in Nagpur on Independence Day, he said India should contribute meaningfully to the world and become a “Vishwaguru”. Bhagwat also said many people and forces were working against that goal. He urged citizens to reflect on the values represented by the national flag, including sacrifice, discipline, prosperity and unity. RSS joint general secretary Krishna Gopal made similar remarks at an event in Delhi.
