# BHEL opens online applications for 660 Artisan Grade IV posts 2026-10-22T00:35:34+00:00 | Governance | Indian Opinion Desk Corroboration: 1 independent outlet Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL) began accepting online applications on 21 October for 660 Artisan Grade IV posts across seven trades, Fitter, Welder, Turner, Machinist, Electrician, Electronics Mechanic and Foundryman, under Advertisement No. 01/2026. The vacancies are in its manufacturing units across India. Candidates must have passed Class 10, hold an ITI (NTC) and a National Apprenticeship Certificate (NAC) in the relevant trade. General, EWS and OBC (NCL) applicants need minimum 60% marks in both certificates, SC and ST applicants need 55%. Upper age limit as of 1 October is 27 years for general candidates, 30 for OBC (NCL) and 32 for SC/ST. Applications must be submitted online at careers.bhel.in by 18 November. A Computer-Based Test is planned for December 2026, followed by a skill test and document verification. ## Indian Opinion Analysis BHEL is filling 660 vacancies across seven trades at once, making this one of its larger artisan recruitment drives in years. The salary band of Rs 29,500 to Rs 65,000 offers a stable government job in a PSU, which attracts large applicant pools. With a November 18 application deadline and a CBT in December, candidates have less than a month to prepare. The eligibility split by marks and age, 60% minimum for general versus 55% for SC/ST, age cap at 27 for general rising to 32 for SC/ST, will determine who gets through. The sheer number of applicants expected means the CBT in December will be the key filter before the skill test. ## Coverage - jagranjosh.com Straight notification report, no opinion or slant This brief was synthesised by AI from the source linked above.
