The Hindu reports that Maoist-affected districts have fallen from 22 in 2013 to zero. Police chief Vinay Kumar said more than 2 lakh arrests had been made by June, against 3.85 lakh last year. The police force has grown to 1.21 lakh after more than 50,000 appointments in 18 months, officials said. Around 3.75 lakh cases remain pending, while 4,000 to 5,000 are being disposed of each month.
