BJP chief Nitin Nabin on Monday announced the party's new national office-bearers, bringing back former Union minister Smriti Irani as a national general secretary. Union minister Piyush Goyal has been appointed national treasurer, reports Livemint. The reshuffle, which Times Now says is aimed at preparing for key state elections in 2027 and the 2029 Lok Sabha polls, includes 13 national vice presidents, six of them women. Among the prominent vice presidents are Vasundhara Raje Scindia and Ram Madhav, says Times Now. Biplab Kumar Deb has also been named a general secretary. BL Santhosh remains national general secretary (organisation). Former AAP leader Sandeep Pathak has been made a national secretary. Prime Minister Narendra Modi said on X that the team combines "organisational experience, energy and grassroots connect". Livemint notes that Goyal's cabinet role may be affected by the BJP's "one person, one post" principle. The announcement comes nearly six months after Nabin became party president.
