# Bihar RJD Dissolves Committees After Bankipur Bypoll Defeat

The Rashtriya Janata Dal dissolved its state, district, block and panchayat committees on Thursday after its candidate Rekha Gupta lost the Bankipur Assembly bypoll and forfeited her deposit, The New Indian Express reports. State president Mangani Lal Mandal issued the order, authorising Tejashwi Prasad Yadav to form new committees. The move followed a public dispute between RJD leaders Bhai Virendra and Shakti Singh Yadav over organisational weaknesses and the role of Tejashwi’s associates. The BJP, which held Bankipur since 1995, is also reviewing its defeat. Jan Suraaj founder Prashant Kishor defeated BJP candidate Neeraj Kumar Sinha by more than 19,000 votes on 3 August, The Hindu reports. BJP spokesperson Kuntal Krishna said the party received nearly 50% fewer votes than in the 2025 Assembly election.
