# BMC launches Vaidya AI chatbot for healthcare access

The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) on Friday launched Vaidya AI, a WhatsApp chatbot developed with Fractal Analytics, to help citizens find nearby healthcare facilities and government schemes. The three-month pilot will start in six Mumbai locations, including two large hospitals, and eventually cover BMC facilities from dispensaries to KEM Hospital, the corporation said. The chatbot can summarise lab reports in English and Marathi, provide pre-consultation support for doctors, and offer a public health dashboard with anonymised insights. Fractal Analytics, which built the model under the India AI Mission, claims Vaidya AI is the world's first model to score above 50 on OpenAI's HealthBench (Hard). Both companies stress the chatbot is not a replacement for medical diagnosis.
