# BMC to scrap Alexandra Cinema reservation for residential use

Mumbai's BMC Improvement Committee will consider a proposal on Wednesday to cancel the cinema amenity on the 1,005-square-metre plot that once housed Alexandra Cinema in Byculla and rezone it for residential use. The theatre has been shut since 2007, and the BMC says it is dilapidated and no longer viable. The proposal followed an application from the state waqf board to Deputy CM Eknath Shinde, forwarded through the urban development department.
