The civic body said stabilisation of the slopes on the upper side of the trail had already been done, but steep slopes remain on the lower side, where buildings, slums and chawls sit at the foot of the hill. During an inspection, the existing stone retaining wall was found to be dilapidated, with disintegrated rock and soil. Landslides have occurred every year; last monsoon, a slide at Loyalka Compound collapsed the wall. Barricades have been put up and police have issued safety guidelines.
