Of 90 trees surveyed on the plot, 46 are likely to be affected by excavation. The MMRDA has undertaken to plant 955 new trees as compensation. The trees to be felled include peepal, coconut, rain tree and almond, some up to 30 years old with eight-foot circumferences.
