It is the first tribal council under the Constitution’s Sixth Schedule to fully digitise its land records. The exercise covered texts, maps and records from five districts: Baksa, Chirang, Kokrajhar, Tamulpur and Udalguri. The process began in 2023 and included ground surveys, cross-checking with revenue records and GIS mapping. Officials say citizens can now check land status through kiosks, mobile applications and web portals. The digital system also supported Mission Bwismwuthi 2.0, which granted land rights to 47,000 indigenous landless families.
