# British cyclist Finlay Tarling dies in Volta a Portugal crash

British cyclist Finlay Tarling, 19, died on Friday after a crash during stage eight of the Volta a Portugal, race organisers and his NSN Development Team confirmed. The stage, from Melgaço to Fafe, was suspended with about 20 kilometres remaining and its podium ceremony was cancelled. RTP reported that Tarling collided head-on with a vehicle travelling in the opposite direction and unaffiliated with the race. Times Now and The Times of India said the full circumstances had not been officially confirmed. Tarling, a Welsh time trial specialist, had finished third in the under-23 time trial at this summer’s British National Championships. His brother Josh rides for Ineos Grenadiers.
