BRS cadres installed a bust of former MLA Peddi Sudharshan Reddy on a rebuilt pedestal in Narsampet on Monday, hours after municipal officials had demolished the original structure late on Sunday night. The party said the statue was placed on private land with the owner’s consent. Police arrived during the unveiling but backed down after leaders threatened legal action. Earlier, BRS leaders including former minister Errabelli Dayakar Rao staged a rasta-roko and scuffled with police, protesting the demolition as a politically motivated act by the ruling party. The municipality maintained no permission was obtained for the statue.
