Brunei’s Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah has revoked the royal title of his daughter-in-law, Pengiran Raabi’atul Adawiyyah, citing conduct deemed unbecoming of a member of the royal family. The decree took immediate effect on Saturday, according to the Office of the Grand Chamberlain, which said her actions had tarnished the monarchy’s reputation and shown disrespect towards the Sultan. Officials have not disclosed what conduct prompted the decision. Raabi’atul, 33, remains publicly married to Prince Abdul Malik, the Sultan’s second son, and no divorce or separation has been announced. The couple married in 2015 and have four daughters, whose royal titles are reportedly unaffected. Prince Abdul Malik is fourth in line to the throne.
