Bumble has ended its signature women-first messaging policy, now allowing either person in a heterosexual match to send the first message. The dating app also extended the reply window from 24 to 72 hours. The changes, announced on Tuesday, follow tests in Canada that showed higher chat initiation rates and fewer expired matches. The move marks a sharp reversal from Bumble's founding principle since 2014. The Hindu reports the changes are a response to user demands for "more flexibility, less pressure, and more opportunities to create real, meaningful connections," according to founder Whitney Wolfe Herd. Earlier this month, Bumble forecast third-quarter revenue below estimates and reported a 16.4% decline in paying users.
