# Calcutta High Court seeks CBI progress report in RG Kar case

The Calcutta High Court has directed the CBI to submit a progress report on August 28 on its probe into the alleged conspiracy surrounding the 2024 rape and murder of an on-duty doctor at Kolkata’s RG Kar Medical College and Hospital. The agency submitted material collected during its investigation before a division bench of Justices Shampa Sarkar and Tirthankar Ghosh. The New Indian Express reports that the court criticised the CBI’s pace and directed it to reconstruct the crime scene and sequence of events. The CBI has changed its investigating officer and formed a three-member SIT, which is examining 20 case-diary volumes and about 1,000 pages of documents. The victim’s parents allege that the earlier investigation was incomplete and evidence was destroyed.
