# Campco seeks one nation one tax for cooperatives, Shah assures action

A delegation from the Central Arecanut and Cocoa Marketing and Processing Cooperative (Campco) met Union ministers Amit Shah and Nirmala Sitharaman on Friday, seeking uniform taxation to protect cooperatives from local levies that private traders often circumvent. The ministers assured action on the grievances, including curbing illegal and undervalued arecanut imports under new HS classifications introduced last October. The delegation, which included BJP MPs and former minister Araga Jnanendra, also raised the 18 per cent GST on copper sulphate used as fungicide in Bordeaux mixture, compared to 5 per cent for the same product as a micronutrient. Sitharaman said the government is strengthening port vigilance to prevent improperly imported goods from entering the domestic market.
