The Central Board of Film Certification has granted an ‘A’ certificate to the upcoming film Doosra, directed by Abhinay Deo, after the filmmaker opted for the adult rating rather than cut three scenes flagged by the board. One of the scenes includes a two-second shot of a nude photograph in an adult magazine, which the CBFC allowed to remain intact. Deo called the outcome ‘an achievement’, saying that even films with an ‘A’ certificate usually face cuts. According to Deo, the board was willing to give a U/A rating if three scenes were removed, including the magazine shot and a reference to the Babri Masjid episode. Deo refused, stating the scenes were integral to the film. The board then agreed to clear the film without any cuts if Deo accepted the adult certificate. Deo said he was not concerned about losing the under-18 audience, noting the film is not meant for teenagers. Doosra is scheduled for release on 23 October.
## Indian Opinion Analysis
Both Bollywood Hungama and The Times of India report the same facts from the same interview, with identical framing: each leads with the two-second nude shot being retained, quotes Deo calling it an achievement, and reports his refusal to cut scenes. There is no substantive difference between the two outlets on this story. The uniform coverage presents Deo’s decision as a deliberate creative choice and the CBFC’s flexibility as notable. The only concrete next step is the film’s release on 23 October.
