Indian cotton prices have risen Rs 700-1,400 per candy in two weeks, driven by global trends, firm mill demand, and delayed new-crop arrivals. Cotton Corporation of India sold 70,000 bales on Monday, with unsold stocks around 14 lakh bales. Cotton futures on ICE are near 84 cents per pound. India's opening stocks for 2026-27 are projected at a record 93.59 lakh bales, up 68% from last year, due to record imports of 62 lakh bales, the Cotton Association of India reported. Consumption is pegged at 348 lakh bales. Kharif acreage has caught up to last year at 106 lakh hectares.
