# CEMTAC Cements felicitates MMA fighter Owais Yaqoob for Bulgaria win 2026-08-21T23:30:49+00:00 | Sports | Indian Opinion Desk Corroboration: 1 independent outlet CEMTAC Cements felicitated its brand ambassador and MMA athlete Owais Yaqoob at a ceremony in Srinagar's Golden Tulip hotel following his international victory in Bulgaria. The event was attended by the company's leading distributors and retailers. CEMTAC presented Rs 50,000 to Team Owais Yaqoob, the MMA training academy where young boys are trained for competitive MMA. Managing Director Riaz Ahmad said the company remains committed to supporting young talent in sports and education, adding that Owais' achievement shows what young people from the region can accomplish with the right platform. Owais Yaqoob thanked CEMTAC for its support and urged corporates to step up and back young athletes, saying this is the only way to create opportunities for athletes from the region to compete internationally. The ceremony concluded with felicitations, interaction with Owais, dinner and networking. ## Indian Opinion Analysis CEMTAC Cements joins a small but growing list of Kashmiri corporates sponsoring individual athletes, a sector long dominated by government sports councils. The Rs 50,000 contribution is modest but meaningful for a local MMA academy that trains boys from the region. Kashmir has produced several MMA fighters in recent years, but most lack the institutional backing needed to sustain international careers. The key question is whether CEMTAC's support will extend beyond this one-time cheque to recurring sponsorship, equipment or travel grants. No further events or commitments have been announced. ## Coverage - greaterkashmir.com Straight news reporting on a corporate felicitation event with no editorial slant.
