# Tumakuru gets highway expansion as minister seeks five grade separators

The Centre has cleared the first phase of a 52-km four-lane corridor in Tumakuru district, linking Sira, Badavanahalli and Bairenahalli on NH-69. The Times of India reports that work on the 20.2-km Sira-Badavanahalli section, costing an estimated Rs 585 crore, may begin soon after tendering. The remaining 32-km stretch is expected to cost around Rs 1,000 crore. The Centre will fund both projects, including land acquisition. Separately, Deccan Herald reports that Minister of State for Railways V Somanna has sought grade separators at five congested NH-206 junctions within Tumakuru city. The proposed sites include Dr Shivakumara Swami Circle and Ring Road Junction. The measures aim to ease delays affecting commuters, freight vehicles and ambulances. The highway expansion is also expected to improve links to industrial areas and Tirupati.
