Sir Dorabji Tata Trust has passed a resolution to form a Selection Committee to recommend the next Tata Sons chairman, days after N Chandrasekaran told the board he will not seek reappointment. The trust said it respects his decision and will support a smooth transition. Chandrasekaran's current term ends in February 2027. The decision came after the board failed to decide on his reappointment for six months, with Noel Tata raising concerns over losses at Air India and newer ventures. The uncertainty wiped out Rs 44,000 crore in market capitalisation of Tata group stocks on the day of the announcement, though most recovered the next day.
