Charli XCX made a surprise appearance during the Strokes’ headlining set at San Francisco’s Outside Lands festival on Saturday, performing the song 'Take It or Leave It'. Julian Casablancas introduced her as a 'superstar' and joked about their albums having been released on the same day in July, saying: 'She won. She won by a lot.' The Strokes had released 'Reality Awaits' and Charli XCX put out 'Music, Fashion, Film' that day. Casablancas and Charli XCX had previously worked together on a remix of her song 'Mean Girls'. Charli XCX had headlined Outside Lands the night before. Next she is scheduled to headline the UK’s Reading and Leeds festivals, while the Strokes will perform at the Summer Sonic festivals in Japan.
