Chhattisgarh chief minister Vishnu Deo Sai on Sunday announced Rs 5 crore in aid for flood relief in Assam after speaking to his counterpart Himanta Biswa Sarma. The funds will support rehabilitation and restoration work in the northeastern state, which is battling its worst floods in years. The New Indian Express reports the death toll has reached 100, while more than 1.37 lakh people remain affected across seven districts, including Charaideo, Darrang and Golaghat. Several rivers are flowing above the danger mark, threatening more areas.
