The area received six inches of rain in nine hours, causing the Narmada, Kharmer and Chakrar rivers to overflow, submerging two bridges. Road connectivity between Dindori and Jabalpur was disrupted after water levels rose over bridge decks. Police barricaded the routes and halted traffic. Sub-divisional officer of police Satish Dwivedi confirmed the fatality and said the Jabalpur-Mandla-Dindori-Amarkantak road link was broken due to the swollen rivers. Temples and ghats along the Narmada have also been submerged.
